If you’ve got school-age kids, like I do, then this round-up on kid-friendly breakfasts to go is for you.
Heck, you might even find some good ones for yourself, too, if you find it hard to get everyone fed in the morning, including yourself! If you can pack something small and delicious to go, that’s half the battle!
I have teenagers, and luckily we manage to eat breakfast together. Most mornings during the week, it’s something quick like bagels with veggie cream cheese or some quick oatmeal with apples. Sometimes the bagel ends up wrapped in foil real quick as we transition to the car. I’m finding the increasing need, however, to have something already prepped that they can take with them and maybe even finish for lunch if needed!
Berry Parfait with Homemade Granola

We love berries in my house and I love doing this recipe because everyone can pick the berries they like the best. Layer everything up in individual glass canning jars the night before. Pass them off to your kids before they head to the car or while they wait for the school bus. Jars can be stored in lunch bags until they come home. Done and done!
Savory Cheddar Muffins

Yes! Cheese muffins for breakfast. These are HARD to resist. They’re cute and small and I can see packing these in a little baggie and sending my kids out with these to munch on. I can see varying these with different kinds of cheeses as long as they melt well, and even a couple that don’t. Parm, Asiago, Spicy Jack cheese (for kids who like spicy!!), Havarti: the sky is kind of the limit here.
Peanut Butter, Banana, and Strawberry Quesadillas

Did you know that quesadillas can be hand-held and portable? Indeed! Wrap them in foil and peel it back as you eat it. The foil makes it easier to hold, keeps the contents contained within, and also means the quesadilla stays hotter longer. This is basically like having a crepe for breakfast, but folded in half in a tortilla. Kids will love this.
Sheet Pan Omelet Breakfast Wrap

This wrap pretty genius! Make an omelet in a sheet pan. Put in the ingredients you like, in terms of cheese and veggies. And then wrap the cooked and sliced omelet in a tortilla. It’s sort of like a breakfast wrap, and sort of like an eggy quesadilla. This recipe just proves that using a tortilla around food instantly means you can transport it, even if it feels like you can’t! All the ingredients are wrapped up in there.
No-Bake Cheerio Bars

These are SO much fun! There’s a lot of ingenuity that goes into these no-bake cereal bars. You can even get your kids to help you make them, and then wrap them up together for the morning. Score!
Spinach and Feta Breakfast Pizzas

If your kids like veggies, these spinach and feta pizzas with eggs are so good. English muffins are an unsung hero of breakfast and general and they are put to awesome use. I like how you can make a sandwich out of it and close it up, or serve it open faced. Either way, pop it into a pouch or some foil and your kids are ready for breakfast.
Applesauce Muffins

If you have little-little ones, they’ll love this sweet treat and you might like that they have oats in them are they’re not high in sugar. Break out the whole wheat flour (or white whole wheat). These mini-muffins are perfect for little hands (or ease of eating–bigger kids can just pop up in their mouths!) and are extra portable because of their size.
Broccoli Cheddar Breakfast Wraps

Fun fact: Despite what pop culture might have you believe, lots of kids like broccoli. Yes, it’s definitely in the same family as other bitter-leaning veggies, but broccoli somehow remains approachable because it’s a little sweeter than we give it credit for. When paired with cheese and egg and served as a wrap, it’s hard to resist. I like changing up the veggies based on what I have on hand; same goes with the cheese.
Overnight Oats Master Recipe

I hope your kids like oatmeal, because overnight oats are a game-changer. Serve these in small jars with lids. Pack some spoons. Everyone gets to pick their favorite fruits and toppings. Combine with the milk of your choice and the oats “cook,” (aka soften) in the fridge overnight. Top with a little honey in the morning. Mmm!
Breakfast Cookies

HOW GOOD does that look? Yes, the words “breakfast cookies” might sound like a contradiction, but wait until you see what is IN these cookies! Oats, bananas, chocolate chips, nut butter, shall I go on? They happen to be naturally gluten free (they call for oat flour!) and both store well and freeze well, too.
